THE PERFORMANCE ARCADE 2014
FEBRUARY 26 – MARCH 3
The Performance Arcade 2014 was an event and an architecture that had evolved through preceding presentations since 2011. In 2014 this unique festival and exhibition format emerged from the activity of the city as a ‘work site’ – where actions, labour, and construction accumulated meaning. Within the temporary architecture of shipping containers, scaffold walkways, and veils of netting it was possible to discover a unique range of live art and installation works. Spilling out into the fabric of the city, these encounters sought to examine alternate ways of presenting art, negotiating new relationships with audiences, constantly in a state of taking form and making ready. The assembly of physical materials and the assembly of spectators became one in this space of live construction.
A part of the NZ Festival Visual Arts programme for 2014.
