PACIFIC ME BARBIE
Ura Tabu Dance (NZ)

As commercialisation collides with Pacific culture a tantalising yet disturbing image emerges of how Pacific women are represented to the world. Inspired by the classic Hula Doll, these Pacific Barbies have been transformed to portray the idyllic, romantic yet compliant women of the islands.

IN MEMORY OF THE MARS VOLTA
Theo Taylor (NZ)
An homage; not just to the psychedelic prog-rock group’s disbandment in 2013, but to adolescence, catharsis, and the joy of limbs. In this solo performance, Theo Taylor performs an improvised dance to the entirety of The Mars Volta’s 2006 album, Amputechture.
